A.     Definition

Recount is a text which retells events or experiences in the past. Its purpose is either to inform or to entertain the audience. There is no complication among the participants and that differentiates from narrative.

Teks yang ditulis untuk menceritakan kembali informasi atau hiburan. Tujuannya adalah baik untuk menginformasikan atau menghibur penonton. Tidak ada komplikasi antara peserta dan yang membedakan dari narasi.

B.      General Structure of Recount Text

·         Orientation     : Introducing the participants, place and time.

·         Events              : Describing series of event that happened in the past.

·         Reorientation : It is optional.  Stating personal comment of the writerto   the story.

·         Orientasi         : Memperkenalkan para peserta, tempat dan waktu.

·         Acara               : Seri menggambarkan peristiwa yang terjadi di masa lalu.

·         Reorientasi      : Itu adalah opsional. Menyatakan komentar pribadi dari writerto cerita.

C.      Language Features

·         Introducing personal participants : My friend, my group, etc.

·         Using chronological connection     : Then, first, etc.

·         Using linking verb                             : Was, were, saw, heard, etc.

·         Using action verb                              : Look, go,  change, etc.

·         Using simple past tense.

·         Memperkenalkan peserta pribadi               : Teman saya, kelompok saya, dll.

·         Menggunakan koneksi kronologis               : Maka, pertama, dll.

·         Menggunakan kata kerja menghubungkan: Itu, yang, melihat, mendengar, dll.

·         Menggunakan kata kerja                             : Melihat, pergi, mengubah, dll.

·         Menggunakan simple past tense.

D.     Example of Recount Text

At the moment of school holidays proposes ajie to go to Bali with his family. We went to lunch at 10 bali bali When we got at 1 pm and we went straight to the hotel.
